Erick Ibarra is not in love with real estate – he is in love with what real estate can do for people. His mission is to initiate change—generational change—for people and families and to bring the American Dream of homeownership to more Spanish speaking families in Colorado. Erick’s passion for real estate comes from watching his parents utilize the buying and selling of property to create a better life for themselves and seeing how uncommon that was in the Hispanic/Latino community.
“I realized early on that within the Hispanic/Latino community there wasn’t much education about how to buy/sell real estate or what real estate could do for a person’s future. It was not a common conversation. What was more common was seeing non-English speaking homebuyers or sellers be given important real estate documents in English. You can imagine the challenges and obstacles that get in the way. So, I decided to get licensed and be the difference for my community,” explained Erick. As a motivator, he is nominated for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors for 2023 with NAHREP (The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals). Through this opportunity he will be able to create change with a powerful movement.
It was the story of his parents’ and his family’s entrepreneurial success that inspired Erick to enter real estate just three years ago at the age of 20. Originally from Mexico, Erick’s parents, Ana and Paco, came to Denver when they were just 19 and 20 years old. They couldn’t speak English, had just $50 to their name, and the responsibility of raising a child – Erick. Through hard work, however, they were able to eventually purchase a condominium, which they later sold for a house as their family grew, which later became part of a growing portfolio.
“My mother was a successful entrepreneur, along with my uncle, who owned a successful architecture business. Seeing what they built for themselves sparked my own entrepreneurial spirit. I wanted to be my own boss and build a business for myself, which led me to real estate as well,” explained Erick. He already owns his own home and is looking forward to building on top of that. When he is not working, he enjoys trying new experiences from restaurants, bars and everything local to Denver. Most importantly spending time with his loved ones.
As Erick continues building upon the success he has already achieved in the business, while remaining passionate about initiating change in the lives of others, there is no doubt he will continue to go far in real estate and help many dreams come true.
